Bill Maher sent a four-word message to President Donald Trump following the Republican Party’s resounding midterm election defeats.
In the Friday, November 6 episode of In Real Time with Bill Maherthe late-night host addressed the blue wave that saw Democrats take control of the House and Senate. Maher did this by fact-checking the POTUS during his opening monologue.
“The Republicans lost a lot – there is no other way to say it,” said the comedian. “And great, damn, now I’ll never get that $5,000 check.”
Maher added: “But you know what? In 2016, Lindsay Graham said that if we nominate Trump, we’re going to be destroyed, and we deserve it. And that just goes to show that gays are still 10 years ahead of everyone else.”
Of Democrats flipping more seats than expected in both houses of Congress, Maher said: “I hate to gloat, but sorry, I have to do it a little bit because everyone was worrying about this election. ‘Oh, don’t count your chickens. It’s going to be closer than you think.’ I never believed this bullshit.
The show then cut to several clips of Maher correctly predicting the outcome of the midterm elections. “I predict it will be a historic shock,” he said in an interview. In another conversation, Maher echoed: “It’s going to be a huge, historical classic.” Yet another clip showed Maher warning: “Your role is going to get dog shit kicked out of you.”
One thing Maher said he “couldn’t have predicted” was Trump’s reaction to the election results. “He congratulated the Democrats. They did a good job,” he stressed.
After turning directly to the camera, Maher asked the POTUS, “Don, are you okay?” He went on to address Trump: “You don’t look good. You’re not even going to pretend it was rigged? I mean…”
