Blood of Dawnwalker Update 1.1 Details Revealed

Rebel Wolves really released something special with Blood of Dawnwalkerits vampire RPG in which you straddle the line between monster and man. Now it’s even better with directional animal petting. Yeah, you heard.

Similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Dawnwalker’s combat uses directional inputs to attack and defend from different angles during combat. Update 1.1, due next week, will let you take this system and use it to frantically scrub a dog.

“What happens when you merge a directional combat system with the ability to pet dogs and cats? THE asked the studio. “Directional. Animalistic. Petting.”

The update also adds a consumable item: the Draft of Mind Rebirth. Take a sip and you can respec all your upgrade points and try a different build without restarting the game.

Elsewhere, the game also becomes an even simpler mode for those who couldn’t master directional combat, as well as options for larger font sizes for subtitles. Accessibility is still good.

Visual improvements are also coming, such as frame generation improvements, better animations and camera movements, improved locking and targeting, and better traversal. The Japanese version of the game has all the blood and gore added back, which is pretty vital for a game about a human-sized clan of leeches.

Rebel Wolves said there are over 1,100 other improvements in The Blood of Dawnwalker update 1.1. That’s a lot and suggests a certain level of dedication. This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, though: The Witcher’s former developers see the game as the starting point for an epic RPG series.

The Dawnwalker team has already teased where this future could one day take the series, with a CGI trailer depicting the main character Coen in the present day. Perks of being an immortal half-breed, huh? The Blood of Dawnwalker has exceeded one million copies sold over its first two days, which suggests the team will get at least one more game. Whether this brings Coen directly to the present day or looks to another historical pinch point like Assassin’s Creed remains to be seen.
