Both parties seek money for fight for Mississippi and Alaska Senate seats

Senate campaigns raised at least $1.3 billion for this year’s midterm exams.

But both parties want their donors to open their checkbooks one last time for the fight for the last two seats.

The race is on to raise funds in Alaska and Mississippi, the only two Senate seats not called from Thursday afternoon. And both are looking to head toward a photo finish, sparking parties that scramble to raise money.

Republicans’ Senate campaign arm and Democratic campaigns are creating recount funds, a sign that the two parties are preparing for contests over the results of close Senate races that could be determined by margins of a few thousand, or even hundreds, of ballots.
