Brewers fans take advantage of decade-old $1,000 promotion for World Series tickets

In 2015, the Milwaukee Brewers were not a World Series contender. They collapsed in the second half of the season in 2014, then had a dreadful 68-84 record in 2015. It was a tough time to be a Brewers fan, but the team did something interesting. They offered fans what might be one of the coolest promotions in baseball history: paying $1,000 for a ticket to any future Brewers home game. Not just any regular season game, either. We talk about opening day, the playoffs or even game seven of the World Series.

Eleven years later, this bet looks like a real bargain.

As Milwaukee heads to its first World Series in more than four decades, a handful of incredibly patient Brewers fans are about to turn their $1,000 investment into one of the hottest tickets in sports.

Florida Panthers general manager BILL ZITO has an unusual connection to the Milwaukee Brewers’ final World Series.

The promotion, aptly called “Timeless Ticket,” resembles the gold bar version of Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket. For $1,000, fans received a personalized brass one pound ticket that could be redeemed for any future home game. The team only sold 1,000, bringing in a cool $1 million.

It was brilliant marketing and a great way to receive an influx of money. It was an interesting and innovative way to excite the fans when the game on the field couldn’t do the same.

The Brewers even announced that the ticket could be used “whether it’s this season, the year 2050 or Game 7 of the World Series.” At the time, that last one seemed like a pretty good joke. Milwaukee hadn’t been to the World Series since 1982, when the Brewers lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.

But the beauty of the Timeless Ticket was that it never expired. Fans could hold on to it for decades, waiting for that perfect moment. Now that time has come.

Fast forward to 2026, and these patient fans are sitting on something quite valuable. According to Gametime, the cheapest available resale ticket for Game 1 of the World Series is currently listed at $2,681. Even seats in the upper reaches of the stadium would cost more than $3,500.

And this is where the deal gets even sweeter.

Timeless ticket holders are also entitled to purchase up to three additional tickets at face value, subject to availability.

In other words, someone who spent $1,000 on what seemed like an outrageous piece of baseball memorabilia more than a decade ago might now have the opportunity to take the whole family to the World Series without paying today’s exorbitant resale prices.

Not bad for a piece of brass that has been gathering dust for 11 years, but here’s the catch.

Unfortunately, owning one of these golden tickets doesn’t mean fans can just march to the ballpark, show off their shiny brass memorabilia, and demand a front row seat. The Brewers require ticket holders to submit exchange requests, and the team has made it clear that World Series seats are subject to availability.

Milwaukee said it is working diligently to process requests, and fans should soon receive information about games and their assigned seats.

The Brewers are scheduled to host Games 1 and 2 on Friday and Saturday, with possible Games 6 and 7 the following weekend.

Although the promotion promises access to an upcoming game, not all remaining ticket holders are necessarily guaranteed their favorite World Series game. Still, it’s a very good problem to have. A $1,000 World Series ticket, regardless of the game, is a steal.

After a few rough seasons in 2015 and 2016, the last nine seasons have been good for the Brew Crew. They made eight postseason appearances, transforming themselves into one of baseball’s most consistent contenders.

BRIGHT LIGHTS NOT TOO BRIGHT FOR BREWERS OR SUPERFAN FRONT ROW AMY IN NLCS GAME 1

What started as a clever marketing ploy to generate excitement and sell tickets has turned into an incredible reward for some of the franchise’s most loyal fans.

In an era where sports tickets have become increasingly expensive and fans are constantly squeezed by resale markets, dynamic pricing and astronomical postseason costs, a group of Brewers diehards are being rewarded for believing in their team before it was fashionable.

Sure, they basically gave the Brewers a $1,000 interest-free loan, but it was one of the coolest stories in baseball fan history.
