Influencer Jennifer Burnham has shared her son Baxter’s cause of death.
The content creator’s 4-year-old died on Oct. 5, she previously shared on Instagram, writing in the video’s caption, “Heaven welcomed our angel.”
In an October 15 Instagram video, Burnham further shared that Baxter died after being diagnosed with diffuse midline glioma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
In the clip, she told her followers that she and her husband first noticed something was wrong when Baxter — who she previously described as a “happy, perfectly healthy 4-year-old” — started crossing her left eye. Doctors initially thought he had strabismus, an eye disease in which an individual’s eyes are misaligned, and they planned to perform surgery on him to correct the problem.
But during an MRI before the operation, doctors discovered a brain tumor, turning their world upside down.
“We immediately asked ourselves, ‘What are our options?’ » ” Burnham recounted.
Baxter underwent surgery to remove part of the tumor; he started red light therapy and the family even traveled to Europe twice over the summer for treatments.
“We talked to any specialist — anyone who could follow our son’s case — and tried to figure out what our options were to get rid of this,” Burnham said. “It’s so difficult to watch your child go through something like this and you’re literally helpless. I mean, it’s every parent’s worst nightmare. And we’ve been living in this nightmare for six months.”
“He was so strong and such a fighter and he literally fought until the very last day,” the influencer continued. “I know in my heart he’s in a much better place.”
Burnham is known online by 96,000 followers on Instagram for sharing lifestyle, motherhood and cooking content. She and her husband, Bryce Burnham, are also parents to 1-year-old son Barron.
