FT: Como 4-1 Manchester United

I think Michael Carrick is almost struggling to find answers right now.

I don’t know if he’s been the angriest, I think he’s been pretty forceful in his pre-match press conferences with the media lately, I’ve been on the wrong side of it. He does it quite calmly, not like Sir Alex Ferguson, but I think he tries to be at the forefront and today is a really bad day.

I immediately thought that when he addressed the fans, greeting them as he did with his hands in the air, four or five times, it was a bit like Ole Gunnar Solskjær who did something very similar after a 4-1 defeat to Watford. He admitted he knew at half-time of that match that his time at Manchester United would come to an end.

Now, United flew home immediately after the match, so there will likely be a lot of thinking about that plane as it returns to Manchester. But, firstly, Manchester United have to decide who will be in charge for this game against Bournemouth on Sunday, and Bournemouth are not in brilliant form, they won the last game, but they have only won one game this season, and they play tomorrow night so Manchester United should really be looking to win this game even though Bournemouth have a fantastic record at Old Trafford.

Do Manchester United give this game to Michael Carrick and see it from there, or do they think we need to make a change?
