Channing Dungey from Warner Bros. TV: It’s time to “start a new chapter”

Channing Dungey has officially added new responsibilities and reports to his dance card.

Deadline revealed this weekend that Dungey, former chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, will now also oversee Paramount cable networks such as MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and BET.

Dungey, who took over oversight of WBD networks such as Discovery Channel, TLC, HGTV and Food Network in early 2025, said it was time to “turn the page and start a new chapter.”

She now reports to George Cheeks, co-president and chief content officer of Skydance TV, and JB Perrette, co-president and chief business officer of Skydance TV.

In a memo to staff Tuesday, Dungey highlighted the studio’s current run of securing 13 new series orders and 13 renewals since the start of the year, meaning its slate now includes more than 80 titles for more than 20 platforms. This includes Apple’s Ted LassoHBO Max The Pitt and Netflix Running point as well as that of HBO Max Lanternswhich she says ranks among the top five series launches in the streamer’s history.

Dungey also said she looked forward to working with “talented studio heads” Matt Thunell, president of Paramount Television Studios, and David Stapf, president of CBS Studios.

But she admitted there was uncertainty within the company, given the savings that co-CEOs David Ellison and Ynon Kreiz have discussed.

“I imagine many of you come to this stage with mixed emotions: pride in what your teams have accomplished, genuine excitement about the possibilities before you, and, of course, some uncertainty about what will happen next,” she wrote. “I don’t have all the answers today – some things will become clear quickly, while others will take longer to understand – but I am committed to keeping you as informed as possible as we move forward,” she said. “I’m sure you’re wondering what all of these changes mean for each of you individually. I have no further details at this time, other than to assure you that our new leadership respects and appreciates how special our incredible, industry-leading team is, and I will work closely with them on strategizing our future success.”

She concluded: “As we begin this next chapter in the company’s rich history, I hope we can work together to make this transition as smooth and positive as possible for everyone involved, and to build a future for the studios that is bigger and better than ever.”
