Charlie Kirk’s Widow Tells Jokes About Him After Dave Chappelle’s Stand-Up

As Dave Chappelle faces backlash for a joke at Charlie Kirk’s expense, the late Turning Point USA founder’s widow has responded.

On Sunday, Erika Kirk called recent jokes from Chappelle and others “beyond disgusting,” following the comedian’s two-night stint at Madison Square Garden for his Karmageddon tour, where he made a morbid joke about Charlie’s public shooting death on September 10, 2025.

“Seeing left-wing podcasters, comedians, and commentators mocking political assassination as if it were entertainment and the destruction of human life was a punchline is beyond disgusting,” she wrote on X. “My husband, Charlie Kirk, was killed in an act of political violence, something our two children and I will live with every day for the rest of our lives.”

Erika continued: “A culture that mocks assassinations is a culture of profound moral decadence. It threatens the very foundations of our country and the principles that uphold our democracy. You don’t have to agree with someone’s politics to recognize the value of their life. It shouldn’t be that difficult. Political violence should never be something this country tolerates, condones, or celebrates.”

The statement comes after Charlie Kirk’s supporters criticized Chappelle for his joke on Saturday’s set, in which he said “I feel better” after Kirk’s death.

“I feel fucked up saying that,” Chappelle prefaced. “It’s scary being a public speaker. And I mean, look, since that guy Charlie Kirk was murdered – and I shouldn’t say it publicly – but I feel better. I know I shouldn’t say that, but it’s just a feeling.”

In the meantime, I got it Co-hosts Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan have apologized for laughing at a joke about Charlie Kirk on their progressive podcast, prompting several sponsors to withdraw their support.

“It was an insensitive joke and we shouldn’t have laughed. We regret it and apologize,” they said in announcing a donation to Everytown for Gun Safety.

On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at the age of 31 while speaking on stage at Utah Valley University for a TPUSA event. Aggravated murder trial of right-wing activist Tyler James Robinson has pleaded not guilty to all charges, with his next hearing scheduled for Monday.
