Nicki Minaj marked Election Day with a seemingly AI-created graphic of horror movie icon Chucky in a pink suit with a pin that says, “Vote Red.” The Republican message was hardly a surprise given that the rapper has aligned herself closely with Donald Trump and his MAGA fanbase in recent months, but one person staunchly opposed to her X-rated message was “Chucky” franchise creator Don Mancini.
“IMPOSTER,” Mancini responded in all caps to Minaj’s use of her killer doll (via Rolling Stone). “CHUCKY IS PART OF THE BLUE WAVE THAT WILL ELIMINATE ALL CORRUPTION.”
In an unrelated post on his own profile, Mancini dismissed the idea of Chucky being MAGA submissive, telling his followers: “Chucky has a trans kid. Chucky protects the dolls. Chucky is anti-ICE. Chucky says ‘A BLUE WAVE is coming, as BLUE as my fucking eyes!'”
Mancini also posted a photo of a Chucky doll with blue hair instead of his signature reddish locks and wrote, “Too bad, Nicki! No AI, by the way!”
This isn’t the first time Minaj has used Chucky on social media. She used an image of the killer doll in January when she attacked journalist Don Lemon for his coverage of anti-ICE protests, for example. Mancini launched the franchise in 1988 with “Child’s Play” and recently created the television series “Chucky,” which ran for three seasons between 2021 and 2024. In one of the show’s first episodes, Chucky says “I have a queer child,” referring to his offspring Glen/Glenda (who debuted in the 2004 film “Seed of Chucky”).
The series “Chucky,” which aired on SYFY and USA Network, was canceled after three seasons in September 2024. The last feature film was “Cult of Chucky,” released in 2017.
