The Week 8 slate of games didn’t look too appetizing before Saturday, but it’s already delivered in a big way with a slew of upsets.
The Big 12 became the battleground of the weekend as No. 2 BYU and No. 8 Texas Tech both fell in stunning fashion in road games. Unranked Cincinnati beat No. 8 Texas Tech 37-24, handing the Red Raiders their first loss of the season. Then, later, No. 2 BYU and UCF had a Big 12 battle for the ages. It ended with a fourth save by the Knights in double overtime for a 39-31 victory, but that doesn’t tell half the story.

Elsewhere, No. 15 Iowa fell to Minnesota on a last-second kick in Minneapolis. No. 6 Indiana survived a big scare in the Big House, earning a 13-6 overtime victory over Michigan, and South Carolina toppled No. 11 Tennessee as time expired.
Still to come: No. 7 Ole Miss travels to Austin to meet No. 19 Texas in a game that appears to be a must-win for Arch Manning, Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns. Next, the Big 12 takes center stage in the nightcap as No. 14 Houston takes on No. 10 Utah.

The Rebels had nothing to do offensively, but they just pulled off some trickery on special teams with just under 4 minutes left in the first half as the punter scrambled for a first down.
They really need some points before halftime to stay in this game.

Wisconsin has deployed an extremely Wisconsin game plan so far and it’s working. The Badgers didn’t have much more possession, but it was a defensive battle, and that played into the hands of the home team.

The Longhorns are rolling early. They got another touchdown on a short run by Michael Terry to cap a 6 play, 62 yard drive.
Texas looks in order tonight, even after Cam Coleman gave up the TD.

Is this a good matchup for the Texas offense? It’s still early, of course, but Texas hasn’t been this good on offense in a long time.

Arch Manning isn’t lacking in confidence early in this one. After fighting for a long first down, he just hit Ryan Wingo on a 50-yard bomb for another touchdown and Texas is doing just fine.

Well, this was billed as a must-win for Arch Manning, but he got no help from star receiver Cam Coleman on this one:

Arch Manning throws a pick on the next play after Goosby’s injury…then Trinidad Chambliss is intercepted on Ole Miss’ first offensive play.
So now the Longhorns have taken the ball back in their own territory.

This is a huge injury for the Longhorns, as Goosby suffered what appears to be a serious leg injury.
Goosby is Texas’ best offensive lineman and his left knee appeared to have buckled.

The Rebels are tied with the Longhorns after a 46-yard field goal from kicker Lucas Carneiro.

USC quarterback Jayden Maiava throws his second interception of the game here in the first quarter. This time, it’s Cairo Skanes who catches it and sets up Wisconsin at the USC 35.

A promising drive for the Longhorns stalls inside the 10, and they settle for a short field goal.

Ideal start for the Texas defense, which immediately forces a Mississippi punt.

Ole Miss won the toss and decided to receive the opening kick. Trinidad Chambliss and Co. take the ball first.

BYU’s 4th and goal pass falls incomplete and the Knights eliminate undefeated BYU! The supporters storm the field.

The Knights get into the end zone via Keyone Jenkins’ 4-yard pass to Grayson Brousseau, and they also convert the required 2-point try.
BYU was called for a questionable kicker penalty after appearing to force UCF into a punt.

Scott Frost did not hesitate to attempt the TD at the end of the fourth quarter. Ending the match after overtime could have been the right decision.
