Earlier today, Rockstar Games shared new information about the music and radio stations that will appear in Grand Theft Auto 6. This news included some new screenshots. And one particular screenshot showing cars on a rainy street at night has people freaking out and wondering if GTA6 will actually look like this on consoles. And the answer is yes, probably. Above all.
On October 8, Rockstar revealed that many famous musicians, including Bad Bunny, would host some of the country’s radio stations. GTA6. We also received our first official confirmation of some of these stations and the types of music they’ll be playing, and learned that you’ll be able to listen to them all on foot through your phone. But on the site sharing all this information, a background screenshot of GTA6 caught the attention of many people, including mine. Here’s a direct link to a super high resolution version of it.

In the screenshot, we can see a few different cars and people on a rainy street somewhere in the heart of Vice City at night. In the background, the neon lights of the Ocean View Hotel illuminate the wet buildings and sidewalks. And in puddles you can see reflections of cars and other elements of the environment. It’s seriously impressive, and fans online are freaking out about how good it looks while others are worried that it’s not real or that it’s being doctored to look better than anything the actual game can produce when running on a PS5 in November.
“There’s no way the first screenshot is real; it looks so good,” one person responded on social media.
“I thought they were renderings, but real plans?” » asked another user.
Digital Foundry Oliver Mackenzie spoke out on the matter when contacted by RGT content creator Ben VideoTech, and suggested that Rockstar could use some sort of debug photo mode that would allow them to increase the resolution and settings to make the photo look as good as possible. However, as Mackenzie pointed out, if you look closely at the screenshot, you can start to notice visual flaws that suggest this could be a photo captured from the game running on PS5 Pro. But “it’s not really possible to say.”
It’s not perfect, however. The mid-field reflections on some sort of semi-glossy road and sidewalk surface are quite messy and seem to indicate something close to the console settings. pic.twitter.com/sfvoZpimpc

For example, the reflections further back in the image show obvious dithering, something we see all the time on reflections in most console games in 2026. You may also notice that shadows are not drawn under pedestrians in the distance. And if you look really far into the background and zoom in a lot, you can even see what look like low poly people standing around.
In the past, Rockstar typically used actual, in-game and in-engine footage and screenshots from its upcoming games for screenshots and marketing trailers. I remember when GTA V was coming out, people were looking at screenshots of the game and swearing that Rockstar was using photoshopped images or running the game at high settings on PC. However, looking back GTA VXbox 360 screenshots from 2026, it’s very clear they were taken in-game. Possibly captured using a debug tool which allowed Rockstar to adjust some settings and add additional lights and poses, but RGT VThe preview photos are very representative of what the game looked like on Xbox 360 and PS3. This is also true for other Rockstar titles, like Red Dead, Bully, And Max Payne 3.
I think what probably happened here is that Rockstar is running the game on a PS5 Pro devkit and using some sort of debug menu to take a super sharp screenshot of the game at its highest possible resolution. So while the final game rarely looks this perfect and clean, I think that, yes, GTA6 it’s going to be amazing at night on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. As for the Xbox Series S, well, good luck, my friends.
