Let’s see how things turned out.
Actress Julia Stiles with Ezra Sosa. The actress talks about her performance last week, which paid tribute to her 10 things I hate about you starring Heath Ledger and involved the rest of the film’s stars. But she and Ezra get into it a bit during rehearsals this week over his criticism, so they have to kiss before they can take on the challenge of an Argentine tango to “The Dogs Attack” by Jerry Goldsmith, Lionel Newman and the National Philharmonic, featured in the 1976 film. The omen. Stiles starred in the remake of the 2006 horror film, so she has high expectations. “I didn’t know you could do that with a priest!” said Bruno. SCORE: 26 out of 40 (Shirley gave it a 4?!?!)
Actor Harry Shum Jr. with Jenna Johnson. THE Grey’s Anatomy the star and her partner dance a contemporary to a song DWTS audiences should be familiar with 2WEI’s “Toxic.” Witney and Milo danced to the same song a few seasons ago. The routine is inspired by 2004 Saw. “Well done! This is the contemporary we’ve been waiting for,” Carrie Ann told them, literally giving them a standing ovation. SCORE: 40 out of 40
Actress Tatiana Ali with Jan Ravnik. These two dance a paso doble to Miles Caton’s Oscar-nominated song “I Lied To You” from last year. Sinners. Tackling such an iconic and recent film, they have a daunting challenge in making it both cinematic and powerful enough to be considered a true paso doble. Looks like the jury is still out on whether they accomplished that, but the judges agreed that they loved theater. “Whatever you’re selling, I’m buying,” Derek said. SCORE: 28 out of 40 (4 more from Shirley)
Actress Jenna Dewan with Val Chmerkovskiy. Back with her partner after the fight with Carrie Ann, Jenna performs an Argentinian tango to “Uninvited” by Damned Anthem and Kendra Dantes, generally inspired by zombie movies… except there were no zombies on this dance floor. “I have seen these movements… but never with this power, this precision! » Derek said, jumping to his feet. SCORE: 37 of 40
Comedian and podcaster Connor Wood with Rylee Arnold. Inspired by Annabelle: Creationthe actor and his partner dance a contemporary to “You Are My Sunshine” by Charles McDonald. SCORE: 37 of 40
Paralympic athlete Ezra Frech with Daniella Karagach. After landing the top 10 of the season, this duo tackles a jazz routine to “Madness” by Ruelle, inspired by The invisible man. Ezra has some issues with his prosthesis this week that interrupted training, but he’s getting through it. The queen of Halloween routines delivers once again, thoroughly impressing the judges. “Jazz is subjective…I actually get your scenario,” Shirley said. SCORE: 36 of 40
Savannah Bananas midfielder Jackson Olson with Emma Slater. Get ready for a “dark character” Mr. Banana Ball! They make a contemporary of Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life”, inspired by Joker. To his credit, he totally embodied the character, to the point that even Carrie Ann has to give him credit for intentionally not completing his movements, rather than being inattentive. “It was a tough routine, with a lot of momentum. I thought it was terrifying,” Shirley said. SCORE: 35 out of 40
Reality TV star Tyler Cameron with Sharna Burgess. Dancing a Viennese waltz to Annie Lennox’s “Love Song for a Vampire,” The Bachelorette alum takes inspiration from the 1992 film. Dracula by Bram Stoker. Tyler’s wig! Scary!!! Dancing? Very good. Well, for all the judges except Carrie Ann. “I didn’t think your acting was that good in that dance,” she said. SCORE: 26 of 40
Olympian Amber Glenn with Pasha Pashkov. The figure skater and her professional partner nailed it last week by dancing an Argentine tango to Clint Mansell’s “Perfection” inspired by Black Swan. These two also had very high scores last week, so they’re on track and ready to raise the bar even more. And the judges loved the technique, even though Argentine tango is quite difficult to master. SCORE: 36 of 40
Reality TV star Maura Higgins with Mark Ballas. For the final performance of the evening, these two dance a contemporary routine to Gerard McMann’s “Cry Little Sister,” the theme from the 1987 vampire film. The Lost Boys. Mark’s mother is at the judges’ table tonight, so all eyes are on them. “Only you can make the horrible beautiful,” Bruno told Mark. But Maura could use a little more oomph in her style on the contemporary. SCORE: 32 of 40
