DOJ sues to block certification of Alaska election if Republicans lose Senate race

The Justice Department filed a lawsuit to block Alaska state officials from certifying the election results if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses in November, an escalation by the Trump administration attempting to use the power of the federal government to influence the midterm elections.

In a lawsuit filed Thursday, DOJ argued that the presence of an independent candidate also nominated Dan Sullivan constitutes a deliberate attempt to mislead voters.
