Dolphins waste little time getting to work during a bye week with multiple moves

The Miami Dolphins are practicing this week, light workouts only, but they’re still working. They will benefit from their allotted time off before returning next week to prepare for the Jets. The coaching staff won’t be taking much time off, however.

On Tuesday, the Dolphins began making some minor changes to the roster. They released running back Jarquez Hunter from the practice squad to add quarterback Brady Cook to the team. This is an interesting development, considering the news regarding Jaylen Wright also surfaced on Tuesday.

According to media reports in attendance, Wright wore walking boots at practice today. Considering they have two weeks until their next game, that’s a slight concern, but he missed time with a foot injury. Looking at this, one wonders why Hunter would have been released.

Miami Dolphins roster could undergo further changes in coming days

The Dolphins plan to do something. We just don’t know what yet. Miami coached former Kansas CB Cobee Bryant on Tuesday. Bryant played for the Atlanta Falcons in 2025 after going undrafted. The Dolphins haven’t decided on his pick yet, but they have released WR Ryan Miller.

But what should Dolphins fans expect in the coming days? First, we need to know Wright’s situation. The Dolphins can’t afford to settle for Ollie Gordon II and Carlos Washington Jr. at running backs. Could they bring Hunter back to the 53-man roster? No, if they had done that, they wouldn’t have cut it first.

There aren’t many options in free agency, but maybe Wright’s injury isn’t that bad.

As for the WR room, Miller’s release could be a good indication that Miami is close to getting Caleb Douglas back. Once that happened, it was likely that one of the WRs would disappear; Miller will likely be added to the practice squad if he doesn’t find a home elsewhere.

Of course, there’s all the trade talk as the November 10 deadline approaches. Adam Schefter was on the Pat McAfee Show and wondered who would be available on their roster. His answer to his own question?

“Most players, if anyone wants them.”

Fans want to know who these players are. We’ve already assumed the move potential of Austin Jackson and Zach Sieler, but what about JuJu Brents or Greg Dulcich? What about Jalen Tolbert or Malik Washington? That’s probably the level of talent the Dolphins would be called for, and it doesn’t really move the compensation needle.

Right now, the only player not named above who might have value is Gordon, but there’s no way Jon-Eric Sullivan could eliminate the brightest spot on his offense for the minimal return he would provide. Regardless, Miami is a team to watch in the coming weeks.
