Eagles injury update: Joe Milton might not get much additional help – NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Eagles are changing quarterbacks for Week 9, but it doesn’t look like Joe Milton will get much more help.

Several key starters were missing when the Eagles took the practice field Wednesday afternoon as the team began preparing for the Giants.

Here is the full injury report from Wednesday:

DNP – RB Saquon Barkley (hamstring/back), LB Jihaad Campbell (hamstring/quad), DB Michael Carter (abdomen), WR Britain Covey (knee), CB Jonathan Jones (hamstring), WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring), WR Dontayvion Wicks (ankle)

LIMIT – K Jake Elliott (right ankle), OLB Jonathan Greenard (ankle), OLB Jalyx Hunt (knee/ankle)

COMPLETE – LB Zack Baun (shoulder), T Markel Bell (finger), DT Jordan Davis (thumb), G Landon Dickerson (hip), TE Dallas Goedert (knee), QB Tanner McKee (chest), DB Kenny Moore (butt), DT Moro Ojomo (neck)

Elliott was added to the report Wednesday for the first time. This is something to watch out for in the future.

Barkley was able to play through his injuries on Sunday night, but only played 22 snaps after playing just 10 against the Cowboys the week before. Barkley missed the first two days of practice last week before playing, so that could be the plan again this week.

Meanwhile, Smith and Wicks have missed the last two weeks and appear poised to miss their third straight game on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles will fortunately have a bye week after this next game.

Campbell missed the Commanders game and was replaced by Jeremiah Trotter Jr., who could end up getting another start on Sunday. Before this last game, Campbell and Trotter were rotating.

The big news on Wednesday was the Eagles’ decision to pick Milton as their starting quarterback in Week 9. Here’s a look at Milton during the first practice of the week:

Milton, 26, was a sixth-round pick by Tennessee in the 2024 draft. He played one game with the Patriots before being traded to the Cowboys. He played in four games for Dallas last year. Sunday will be his first career start.
