Shane Gillis thought it would be a good idea to make a misogynistic joke while hosting Saturday evening liveand yet it continues to be poorly received. After the controversial comedian joked that women at the gym “dress like whores now” during his monologue, a number of celebrities, including Dan Levy, Maren Morris and Flavor Flav, expressed their disdain. Monday, a former colleague SNL fellow student Ego Nwodim apparently joined in, posting a photo of herself at the gym on her Instagram Story with the caption “Damn at work.”
Nwodim, who starred in SNL from 2018 to 2025, also posted a photo of her breakfast — what appears to be a pretty good set of poached eggs and hash browns — to her story, writing, “Taking my 30 grams of protein after healing.” »
Both stories appear to have been published in response to Gillis’ Saturday night monologue, in which he mocked women who worked out in shorts with “wrinkles (that) go around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole.” “You’re not allowed to watch,” he continued. “For real, don’t watch because they’re filming. I’m in the background of ten TikToks right now.”
Although disgusting, Gillis’ role is no surprise. He was fired from a SNL job in 2019, just five days after the show announced his hiring, which caused his story of racist and homophobic slurs to go viral on Twitter. At the time, he sort of apologized, writing in another tweet: “I’m a comedian who pushes boundaries… Sometimes I miss that.” » Since his dismissal, he has been invited again to host the show three times (in 2024, 2025 and 2026), so clearly SNL still sees some value in his offbeat humor. Fortunately Nwodim doesn’t.
