Eminem stands by his decision to appear on Kid Rock’s new Christian music album, Halfway 2 Jesus. In a social media post marking the album’s release, the rapper wrote: “It’s not about picking a side, just choosing to make music with my old friend. Praying for all of us.”
The rapper guest-stars on a track titled “Heal My Faith,” in which he traces his decades-long history with Kid Rock and expresses hope that their friendship can inspire others to put aside their differences: “He’s my brother, not my political enemy/ BO to the B., we wrote this for those who believe/ In GO to the D, no matter how you voted or lean/ Liberals and evangelicals can agree/ It’s God first, home of freedom,” Eminem raps.
Kid Rock made a similar statement in the album’s foreword, writing: “I’m proud of the guests who joined me, especially my old friend Eminem. His verse speaks to something we’ve talked about that really needs to be heard: we’re different politically and on other things, but we’ve remained friends through it all… We hope this sets an example for people who have lost friends or stopped talking to family because they think differently.”
Not a matter of choosing a side, just choosing to make music with my old friend. Pray for all of us. #HealMyFaith @KidRock https://t.co/MtjaVfYm6L pic.twitter.com/JALVnwfw6C
