Poleman Antonelli: Mercedes took a good step forward with updates
The aero package Mercedes brought to the Sepang race took a little time to understand, and the team’s back-to-back experiences in Singapore appear to have given them a better understanding.
With the full trio of testing sessions available in Austin, Antonelli believes the team has continued to make great strides in getting the most out of the newest car – aided by the new front wing available this weekend.
“(Qualifying) wasn’t an easy session. The wind was picking up and gusting, and Q3 was a bit tricky because the wind was a bit unpredictable. It also picked up, especially in that last lap. It was a bit worse, but overall, yeah, I’m happy.
“I’m happy because we’ve worked very hard on this package, and we’re still trying to fully understand it. But since Singapore, we’ve taken a big step forward, and now we have to keep working on it, keep understanding.”
