Faced with electoral erasure, Trump attacks the system

President Donald Trump is intensifying its crusade for control US elections as his party heads into a potentially bruising midterms.

The Justice Department has already filed lawsuits in nearly every state trying to gain access to voter records. Asset revisited its long-standing attempt to restrict mail-in voting, sparking a legal battle which reached the Supreme Court. He sought to create anti-terrorism funds for state and local governments based on how they administer elections. He has threatened to suspend federal elections funding for states that refuse to change voter registration forms and clashed with Republican lawmakers on a bill to revise elections.

But with most of those efforts stalled, on Thursday, just 12 days before Election Day, the DOJ went even further: In an extraordinary move, it asked a court to preemptively block the Alaska Senate results if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses, stunning current and former election officials from both parties.

“Boy, they are scraping the bottom of the barrel. This seems to me to be a real game of desperation, because it has no basis in the law,” said Ben Ginsberga seasoned expert on Republican electoral law who served as counsel for George W. Bush Presidential campaigns of 2000 and 2004.
