Farid Basharat removed from UFC roster despite 7-0 octagon streak

Top-ranked bantamweight Farid Basharat has been removed from the UFC roster, MMA Fighting has learned.

Basharat (16-0) ended his contract with the organization with a victory over John Garza in July and was not offered a new contract after extending his win streak to 16. He also holds notable victories over Jean Matsumoto, Chris Gutierrez and Taylor Lapilus.

After completing his deal, Basharat is free to compete for any other promotion, although the UFC could also re-sign him at some point in the future.

The 29-year-old talent has had a successful run in the promotion with seven wins in seven fights since earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022 and has fought his way into the top 10 of the official UFC roster at 135 pounds.

Farid’s older brother, Javid Basharat, was also fired by the UFC after a win and has since joined the PFL.
