President Donald Trump brings some serious SEC star power to Georgia. Former Georgia Bulldogs superstar and NFL All-Pro running back Todd Gurley hopped aboard Air Force One with Trump on Friday as the president headed to Dalton for a campaign rally ahead of the November midterm elections.
Not a bad improvement from his private flying days in the NFL.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gurley joined Trump for the trip to his home state. The former NFL star photographed alongside the president as they stepped off Air Force One at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta.

Gurley, in case you forgot, was an absolute monster in Georgia. He had 3,285 yards and 36 touchdowns in three seasons before becoming the 10th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He became a three-time Pro Bowler and NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 with the Los Angeles Rams.
And he’s not the first Bulldog to find himself in Trump’s orbit.
Current Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton appeared alongside Trump at a February rally in Rome, Georgia, where the president greeted him on stage.
Then there’s Georgia legend Herschel Walker, whom Trump supported during his unsuccessful 2022 Senate campaign against Democrat Raphael Warnock. Walker ultimately landed a different job thanks to Trump: U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas.
Apparently, being a Georgia soccer star doesn’t hurt your chances of spending face-to-face time with the president.

Friday’s rally is Trump’s third visit to Georgia this year, with Republican Senate candidate Mike Collins and gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson joining the president as Republicans seek to energize voters ahead of Election Day on Nov. 3.
I will say that it is refreshing to see so many professional athletes, former and current, unafraid to show their support for President Trump and the Republican Party. As Clay Travis said on X in response to this news, “So many professional athletes have risen above the anti-Trump bulls***. Good for Todd Gurley.” It’s true. Many athletes have been silenced for years. But not anymore.
