Geordie Greep responds to accuser’s sexual misconduct allegations

Several stops on Geordie Greep’s current US tour were canceled on Saturday following an anonymous accusation of sexual misconduct made against the singer. In a new report in Stickthe alleged victim speaks out for the first time about what happened. In a statement, Laura (a pseudonym) said she met Greep and his touring keyboardist, Cameron Campbell, at a bar before the band met at another individual’s apartment. “It was very late, I was very drunk and I fell asleep on the couch,” she said. StickThis is Tatiana Tenreyro. “I then woke up to him kissing, and no, not just a kiss. When I realized what was happening, I pushed him away and called him out on what he was doing. If I had had a few more drinks and hadn’t woken up when I did, I don’t know what would have happened.”

Laura’s story was supported by Campbell, who told her version of events to Stick and noted that he has since left the group over the incident. “I was not in the room where this happened,” he said in a statement. “However, I heard the victim’s reaction that something was wrong and saw the immediate aftermath. Later I spoke to her directly and she told me that Geordie had kissed her while she was sleeping.” Campbell added: “I made the decision to leave because, from what I witnessed and what I subsequently learned, I could not continue to work with Geordie. » Pitchfork has reached out to Greep and Campbell’s team for additional comment.

In a response posted on his Instagram, Greep gave his views and apologized to the alleged victim. “I fell asleep in an armchair and, around 6 a.m., I woke up,” he wrote. “One of the women in the group was on a couch across from me alongside three other people who were there with us that night. Throughout the night I had – I now realize wrongly and stupidly – believed that she was interested in me. I walked up to her and leaned in to kiss her. I kissed her once and she immediately responded negatively and pushed me away. I apologized and walked away. She was understandably upset and told me to leave. She told me she had fallen asleep, which, to my great regret, I honestly didn’t realize.

Greep’s European tour, which begins on November 1 in the Netherlands, is still planned.
