THE Georgia–Alabama The game appears on track to begin as scheduled on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET, SEC and team sources told On3 on Thursday.
The timing of the match was uncertain as Hurricane Isaias developed in the Gulf of Mexico. The storm is expected to make landfall somewhere near the Alabama-Florida border on the Gulf Coast Friday evening and move north through Alabama and Mississippi throughout the night and into Saturday morning.
The storm, which was moving at 8 mph, is now moving at 10 mph and projections have it moving through Tuscaloosa well before the game.
ESPN’s College GameDay, which was scheduled to air Saturday morning from the Alabama campus, announced shortly after noon Thursday that the broadcast would still travel to Tuscaloosa. But it will be inside Coleman Coliseum rather than outside.
The Georgia team staff was informed shortly after noon ET to plan to stick to its original schedule in terms of traveling to Alabama and arriving at Bryant-Denny Stadium, sources told On3’s Pete Nakos.
The eye of the storm is expected to be near the Alabama-Tennessee border at kickoff. It’s over 150 miles from Tuscaloosa.
