God of War Laufey, a PS5 exclusive, has officially been delayed by three months

Developer Santa Monica Studio has just announced that its upcoming game, God of War Laufey, has been delayed.

Originally scheduled for February 16, 2027, the PS5 exclusive action game will now launch just over three months later on May 20.

The news comes via a statement posted on social media:

“Since God of War Laufey’s reveal in June, we are deeply grateful to see so much enthusiasm for Faye’s journey through the All,” the statement read. “We don’t take for granted the trust placed in our studio to create an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans.”

Santa Monica Studio says it will “make the most of every moment between now and then by putting the finishing touches and pushing the game to its full potential.”

God of War Laufey is the next entry in Sony’s popular action series, chronicling the journey of Kratos’ late wife Faye as she navigates the afterlife.

As mentioned in the statement above, the game was officially announced in June of this year, and even then it seemed to be close to release. At the time, some thought Sony was pushing Laufey harder than the impending Marvel’s Wolverine.

However, the game will launch within a year of its announcement, which is pretty good.
