Google pushes major updates to all of its Google Home, Nest and Streamer devices

Google is back this week updating all of its Google Home-related products, from the app and Gemini for Home to the hardware it still supports. On the hardware side, we see updates for the Chromecast with Google TV, Nest Wi-Fi And Nest Wi-Fi Proand his Nest And Google Home Speakers.

These updates all feature several changes that do everything from bringing new Android security fixes to Google Home Platform updates and improved streaming performance. These look big.

In the streaming department, Google is offering updates to the Chromecast with Google TV (4K) and Chromecast with Google TV (HD). These updates bring the August Android security patch, fix numerous bugs and improve connectivity, media streaming and display performance.

For Nest WiFi and WiFi Pro devices, Google is doing things like improving mesh network resiliency and node configuration, tweaking mesh RSSI and client steering performance, and rolling out Google Home Platform updates with comprehensive security improvements.

Finally, for the Nest and Google Home speakers, Google says it has improved streaming performance across all of its speakers, adjusted the speaker pair’s volume (both at bass and minimum volume), improved local discovery in the Google Home app for speakers, fixed a Bluetooth audio streaming bug, fixed WiFi 7 issues, and more.

The list of changes is significant and can be viewed in full below.

As a reminder, you cannot manually update most of these devices. You can try doing this on your Chromecast with Google TV devices, but Nest and Google Home speakers usually update automatically behind the scenes.
