Hakeem Jeffries says Democrats will refuse to work with Trump chief of staff Stephen Miller

Hakeem Jeffries, the likely next House speaker, has vowed that Democrats won’t work with President Trump’s new chief of staff, Stephen Miller — in the first big sign of friction after Tuesday’s major party shake-up in the midterms.

“Stephen Miller is the architect of Donald Trump’s violent mass deportation machine,” Jeffries said on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, saying Miller was responsible for policies that led to the deaths of Americans including Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good.

“It was an irresponsible decision, in my opinion,” Jeffries said of Trump’s choice.

The Brooklyn Dem added that his party would push back “strongly” against what he called the administration’s extremism.

“There will certainly be no opportunity to work with Stephen Miller and what he represents,” he added.

Jeffries said lawmakers have a “firewall” to oppose the Trump administration because of Tuesday’s vote.
