Hot Dog Recall: Hundreds of Kayem Food Products Recalled by USDA – NBC Chicago

More than 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat hot dogs, sausages, bacon and other deli and poultry products distributed nationwide have been recalled because they may not have been kept at the proper temperature and could be spoiled.

The recall, from Massachusetts-based Kayem Foods, was announced Saturday by the Food Safety and Inspection Service. According to a press release, a total of 1,584,361 pounds of products have been recalled.

Ready-to-eat products include a variety of packaged hot dogs, bacon, smoked brisket, flavored chicken sausages and meatballs and sliced deli meats under a number of brands, including Kayem, Al Fresco, McKenzie, Triple M, Deutschmacher and Jordan’s.

They were produced between March 31 and October 7, 2026, FSIS said, and were shipped to retail and food service locations across the country.

According to health officials, the products were recalled due to a “risk of overheating.” The problem was first discovered when a retail customer complained that a product was hot when it was delivered on Oct. 1, FSIS said. An investigation determined that the various meat products were stored in a warehouse cold room that “experienced temperature fluctuations.”

Health officials are concerned that these products could be found in consumers’ refrigerators and have urged people not to eat them or return them to their place of purchase.

To date, no cases of illness have been confirmed, FSIS said.
