Cole Sprouse hung up the phone on his twin brother Dylan Sprouse after learning they were “children of incest.”
“I called Cole. I was like, ‘Man, I just found out some crazy shit,'” Dylan said on Tuesday’s episode of the “Wildmen Podcast.”
“And I sent him a picture, and he said, ‘I’m not looking at that.’ I closed it. Hung up on me,’” the “Under Fire” actor added.
Dylan, 34, revealed on the podcast that he used the genealogy program Ancestry to discover that both sides of his and Cole’s family were united in marriage during the California Gold Rush in the 1800s.
“Then they separated, and then they got remarried (through) my mom and dad,” Dylan said.
The Disney Channel alum explained that he “began to become suspicious” of his family tree after discovering that his father’s uncles were identical twins.
“I just thought that identical twins or twins in general came from my mother’s side. We’ve had seven sets of twins in four generations. Which is crazy,” he said. “And the reason we have a lot of twins is because it’s the same family!”
Dylan also detailed another crazy fact about his family history.
“One of my aunts was a twin, but she was one of the twins who ate her twin in the womb, and when they opened a cyst in her shoulder, it had teeth and hair,” he said.
Dylan and Cole’s parents are Matthew Sprouse and Melanie Wright, who divorced when the twins were two years old.
Wright got Dylan and Cole to become actors, but after using most of their early earnings on herself, Matthew was granted sole custody of the boys, cutting her out of their lives.
“My mother was an incredibly wonderful, artistic woman, but she was financially the most irresponsible woman ever,” Cole said on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in 2023.
The “Riverdale” actor confirmed that the twins are still separated from Melanie, which he called “the biggest hurt of my life.”
Dylan, for his part, expanded his family when he and his wife, Victoria’s Secret Angel model Barbara Palvin, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Sylvie, on September 7.
Dylan recently told E! News of what surprised him most about fatherhood.
“How desensitized I am now to bodily fluids,” he joked. “It’s just having a baby, I guess.”
