The Mountaineers begin their second season since Rich Rodriguez returned to the program, with Oklahoma transfer Michael Hawkins Jr. expected to lead the offense at quarterback. Saturday will also be a celebration of West Virginia history, as the program will retire former quarterback Pat White’s No. 5 and hold an “All White for 5” promotion for the home opener.
Coastal Carolina begins a new era under head coach Ryan Beard, who takes over the Chanticleers after previously leading Missouri State. This will be just the second all-time meeting between the programs, with West Virginia winning their first matchup in 2010. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 PM ET on Saturday, with the game airing on TNT.
