Hyundai is recalling 94,622 vehicles due to a fire risk associated with overheating power front seat motors, according to a recall report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“The front seat slider and height adjustment control switch used on non-memory power seats in affected vehicles may become dislodged or damaged when subjected to one or more external forces, which could potentially cause the switch to remain engaged and the seat adjustment motor to operate continuously, even after the occupant has exited the vehicle,” NHTSA said in the recall report.
The agency said prolonged use of the engine can cause overheating, increasing the risk of fire while driving or parking.
NHTSA said warning signs include a burning smell and inoperative seat control switches.
