Indiana Fever fires general manager Amber Cox

The Indiana Fever has fired general manager Amber Cox, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Friday because the decision has not yet been made public.

Cox joined the team in 2024 as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer. She replaced former team general manager Lin Dunn, who moved into an advisory role with the organization.

The move came hours after Fever president Kelly Krauskopf resigned from her position.

Before coming to Indiana, Cox served as COO of the Dallas Wings, vice president of sports for the Connecticut Sun and COO of the Phoenix Mercury.

The Athletic was first to report Cox’s departure.

The Fever have a busy offseason ahead with star Caitlin Clark seeking an extension under the EPIC clause – a new CBA provision that allows top rookie-level players to renegotiate their final year of contract early and sign multi-year extensions. Aliyah Boston signed an EPIC extension last year.

Kelsey Mitchell, Clark’s backcourt companion, is an unrestricted free agent.

Cox has been there to see Indiana become one of the most popular teams in the league with record crowds at home and on the road. The Fever have also set viewership records since Clark became the No. 1 pick in 2024.
