It’s official: Forza Horizon 6 postponed to 2027 on PS5, and the game’s first expansion has been announced

The reports were correct: Forza Horizon 6 has been delayed to 2027 on PS5. The PlayStation version was expected this year – the PC and Xbox versions launched in May – but will now launch in January.

Specifically, the PS5 version will launch on January 26, Playground announced on the Forza website – with the possibility of early access starting January 21 if you grab a Premium edition of the game, which costs £110.

January 21 is also the date when the game’s first paid expansion arrives, which will be included in the Premium Edition, thank goodness. A free update will also be released that day to everyone, although there are no further details on either version yet.

The PS5 version of Forza Horizon 6 reportedly manages 30 FPS at 4K in the game’s Quality mode – seen in a pre-order trailer, apparently – and 60 FPS in the game’s Performance mode. And since cross-platform play and cross-saves are supported, you can play with other people on other platforms and play on other platforms if you want. All user-created items, such as liveries and tuning configurations, are also cross-platform.

We’ve given Forza Horizon 6 – an open-world arcade racing game set in Japan – a glittering five stars in our review. “I think Horizon 6 is the culmination of a pantheon of already great racing experiences,” Dom wrote in his review, “and shows Playground Games as a developer at its peak… It’s taken 14 years to get here, but I think Forza Horizon 6 finally delivers on the promises the original game made, back in October 2012.”
