Jalen Hurts will be placed on injured reserve and will miss at least four games and possibly more

The Eagles will be without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts for at least four games.

Hurts was placed on injured reserve due to a blood clot, the team announced.

This comes after a previous report from ESPN stated that The Eagles hadn’t even discussed put Hurts on injured reserve. It seemed hard to believe at the time, and now the team didn’t just discuss it, but did it.

The Eagles’ next four games are against the Panthers, Cowboys, Commanders and Giants, then they have their bye. It’s possible Hurts will be back after the bye. But he’s currently considered out indefinitely, and it’s possible he could be out for most or all of the rest of the season. Players who have to take blood thinners are usually out for more than a month.

The 2-3 Eagles are still contenders in the NFC East, and they hope to get Hurts back for a late-season playoff push. But it’s not sure.

While Hurts is out, backup quarterback Tanner McKee will start. Rookie Cole Payton is currently McKee’s backup, and recently signed Joe Milton is the No. 3 quarterback in Philadelphia.
