Jasmine Jasudavicius in disbelief at being fined $10,000 for alleged ‘diving’ in UFC Winnipeg fight

Jasmine Jasudavicius got her show and made some money in her most recent fight, but still left UFC Winnipeg with her wallet a little lighter than expected.

Ahead of her co-main event fight with Erin Blanchfield this Saturday at UFC Edmonton, Jasudavicius spoke to Full Send MMA about an incident last April that saw her get caught by the Manitoba Combat Sports Commission. Cameras appeared to film Jasudavicius with a dip (chewing tobacco) in his mouth in the middle of a fight with Karine Silva which Jasudavicius won, but she insists it was actually chewing gum.

The commission was not convinced and Jasudavicius had to pay a five-figure fine.

“That last damn card, I got fined because everyone thought I had a dip in my mouth,” Jasudavicius said. “I had gum. They charged me $10,000. Manitoba commission, man. They actually charged me. Check my fucking bank account. I was so frustrated.”

According to Jasudavicius, his claim was easily provable if the commission had simply sent officials to check the mat, because the gum had not remained in his mouth throughout the fight.

“I told them,” Jasudavicius said. “I said, ‘Hey, he fell on the mat. Go get him.’ He said, “Well, we wouldn’t do that.” » I said to myself: “This is the proof. Go get it if you can check. Peppermint gum, go check and test, do whatever you want with it.

Jasudavicius’ trip to Winnipeg was still fruitful as she defeated Silva to get back in the win column, rebounding from a disappointing loss to Manon Fiorot to earn six victories in her last seven outings. Should she beat Blanchfield – currently No. 9 in the MMA fight pound-for-pound rankings – the Ontario native could find herself in the hunt for the flyweight title in 2027.

Heading into Saturday, Jasudavicus has eliminated a significant distraction from his fight night plans.

“I’ve stopped chewing gum now,” Jasudavicius said.
