Jets takeaways, report card from NFL Week 7 loss to Dolphins

The Jets lost to the previously winless Dolphins 28-25 on Sunday to fall to 2-5 on the season. Here are some takeaways from the game:

1. The Jets found a way to lose to a winless team on Sunday. It’s inexcusable and a loss that will linger for embattled coach Aaron Glenn. This season was about whether Glenn should be the coach in 2027. Before Sunday, the evidence that he should return wasn’t strong. After this loss, it seems impossible to justify his return.

What makes Glenn even worse is the storyline John Harbaugh is writing with the Giants across town. The Giants pulled off another improbable victory on Sunday afternoon, just after the Jets suffered another improbable loss. For those who like to argue about the importance of having a good head coach, Harbaugh is now at the top of the list of examples. While the Jets continue to run the gauntlet, the Giants find ways to win despite missing some of their best players.

Glenn had another miserable day where his team looked unprepared and he missed the end of the first half. Glenn doesn’t need help looking bad, but Harbaugh provides even more evidence of how much of a difference a good coach can make.
