Jimmy Kimmel responds after Trump calls him a ‘loser’

Donald Trump talked about a lot of things this week, including his new loss of the Nobel Peace Prize and his dislike of Jimmy Kimmel. At a recent rally, the president described Kimmel as a “loser” because the late-night host commented on empty seats at one of his events.

“That loser, Jimmy Kimmel,” Trump told the crowd at the rally. “What a loser. I had just left Texas or somewhere. The place is crowded. And maybe it was Ohio. The place is crowded.”

Trump then imitated Kimmel, adding: “He said, ‘Donald Trump had a poorly attended (rally).’ I said, “Uncrowded? They must have marched thousands of people. They couldn’t enter the arena. These guys are crooked people. They are losers.

“Do I really look like that?” Kimmel responded. “Be honest. Of all the things I’ve said about him in the last week, of all the many stupid and criminal words and actions I’ve detailed, this is what bothers him? Me pointing out the fact that his rallies have empty seats? Well, in that case, let’s start again: There were a lot of empty seats at the rally. So many empty seats. There were even empty seats at the rally where he complained that I said he had empty seats at the rally.”

Kimmel added: “He keeps claiming that the reason there are empty seats in the back and upstairs is because people like him so much that they move to the front. Isn’t it interesting that that never happens at a Lakers game? People just move to the front. But it does at an event controlled by the United States Secret Service. And, by the way, when I mentioned the low turnout at this gathering, I didn’t even show it.”

The host cut to a photo of a half-empty rally in Alabama. “Just like Trump’s cognitive functions, but not at full capacity,” Kimmel joked.

Trump and Kimmel have continually exchanged barbs over the past few years. While hosting the 2024 Oscars, Kimmel read one of Trump’s posts on Truth Social during the ceremony, joking: “Thank you, President Trump. Thanks for watching, I’m surprised you’re still standing – isn’t that your prison sentence over?” Trump then called Kimmel a “dope” and “one of the stupidest human beings ever.”

Last year, Kimmel said rolling stone he likes to amplify Trump. “I think most comedians have a strong sense of justice, and he violates that so frequently,” Kimmel said. “I know we should be used to it by now, but I’m not. It shocks me; it seems like a comic book villain. He seems like the kind of character that would burn out after a few years, but the fact that he’s still with us is remarkable. A year ago I would have said that I hoped to show people who don’t pay attention to the news what’s really going on and that I hope to change things that way. Obviously, that hasn’t been enough impact before the election, so now I see myself more as a place to shout.
