JJ McCarthy’s wife raves about QB after winning Giants’ first start

Sunday was a good day in the McCarthy household.

After the Giants’ 27-21 overtime win over the Texans in what was JJ McCarthy’s first start for Big Blue, the quarterback’s wife quickly took to Instagram to share her excitement.

“God I love you❤️‍🔥So deserving,” Katya McCarthy wrote in her story along with an NFL reel that shows McCarthy raising his hands in celebration after Devin Singletary’s game-winning touchdown.

The Giants sideline rushed the field, and coaches and teammates, including safety Tyler Nubin, joined McCarthy, patting him on the helmet for his first win as a starter for New York.

Just a month ago, the 23-year-old was traded to the Giants by the Vikings in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.

The move came after Jaxson Dart underwent knee surgery for a torn meniscus, torn MCL and PCL damage, and the Giants sought outside help from backup Jameis Winston.

On Sunday, McCarthy kept the Giants atop a weak NFC East by throwing for 252 yards while four different players scored rushing touchdowns.

Katya then shared a video of the Giants’ running back room — Tyrone Tracy, Cam Skattebo and Singletary — celebrating the victory together in front of the cameras. She added three clapping emojis to the post.

McCarthy was looking for an opening to prove himself after a difficult rookie season with the Vikings.

The Michigan product totaled 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Now he has a chance to keep the Giants’ momentum going, including against their division rivals, the Eagles (2-4), on Nov. 8 in Philadelphia after their bye week.

Katya has been by McCarthy’s side since high school at Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Illinois.

The two married in April in San José del Cabo, Mexico, just months after welcoming their first child, Rome Micah, in September 2025.
