John Oliver criticizes ‘You Can See Everything’: Elizabeth Holmes and Billy Evans are ‘complete lunatics’

Unlike his HBO network colleague Bill Maher, who found himself embroiled in a bizarre argument with his dinner companion Donald Trump, John Oliver has been focused on the November 3 midterm elections. Just last week, Oliver devoted much of “Last Week Tonight” to exposing the disturbing links between MAGA midterm candidates and neo-Nazis. And on Sunday night, he focused not only on how Trump’s rallies have become increasingly lopsided, but also on how most Republican midterm candidates have distanced themselves from Trump given his low approval ratings.

At Trump’s recent midterm convention, he led the crowd in pledging to vote red during the midterm elections that began with: “I promise, to the greatest president in the history of the United States, that he loves us so much he can’t even breathe…” followed by: “You know what happens if you don’t vote?” You are going to hell.

“Okay, there’s so there, from asking them to repeat a sentence that was clearly too long for them until the line ‘He loves us so much he can’t even breathe'”, Oliver joked. “What is he talking about in Paramore’s lyrics?! As for “vote or you will go to hell,” I will say this: huge, if true. Imagine if Jeffrey Epstein went to hell and said, “Oh, because of all this? And the Devil said, “No, lack of civic engagement. »

Trump has also repeatedly suggested that a vote for Republicans in the midterms is a vote for him, even though a recent New Yorker report found that “more than 99 percent of the Republican Party’s ad spending now goes to spots that don’t mention Trump.”

When Kristen Welker, on NBC News’ Meet the Press, asked Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers of Michigan, “Is a vote for you a vote for the Trump agenda?” Rogers said: “I apologize, I’m having difficulty with my earpiece.”

Cue Oliver: “Yeah, nice try, Mike, but that was pretty obvious! I haven’t seen someone dodge a question so shamelessly since I spent three hours gasping out loud about two complete lunatics who never blinked once in their lives,” before showing a photo of convicted con artist Elizabeth Holmes and her partner Billy Evans in Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s documentary “You Can See Everything.”

And apparently the “Last Week Tonight” team has become so obsessed with the documentary that it’s hindering the flow of the series.

“If you want to talk about this film, please contact anyone who works here,” Oliver said, adding, “This has derailed our workflow to an unacceptable degree.”
