Jon Gosselin talks about being estranged from six of his eight children.
The “Jon & Kate Plus 8” father appeared on the “Legally Goff” podcast earlier this week and opened up about his relationship – or lack thereof – with some of his children.
Gosselin, who split from wife Kate in 2009, shares eight children with his ex: twins Mady and Cara, 26, and 22-year-old sextuplets: Colin, Hanna, Aaden, Alexis, Joel and Leah.
“I haven’t seen Mady and Cara in forever,” the former reality star said of her twins. “I have photos of them, but I still wouldn’t be able to spot them on the street. That’s why I haven’t seen them.”
Gosselin said he missed graduations and proms because he was “alienated from the whole thing” and that he last saw the twins when they were about 13 years old.
“I don’t know anything about my twins, if they have boyfriends or girlfriends, or what favorite color they have now – if they drive a car. I don’t know anything,” he added.

“Alienation is like silence, like I’ve never heard their voice. I was once a very active parent on a daily basis and it’s upsetting, I know, and people are going to hate to hear this, but I was just shut out of their lives,” Gosselin added, placing some of the blame on the network that aired his family’s infamous TV show.
“I guess they believe the TLC narrative that I’m an asshole and I don’t want to see them,” he said, alleging that’s what his ex-wife said to one of their sons, Colin. “I think that’s exactly what she told Mady and Cara and she’s their mother and they believed her and that’s it.”
Jon, who has a relationship with his children Colin and Hannah, said he last saw four of the sextuplets – Joel, Aaden, Alexis and Leah – in 2018.

Colin Gosselin has no relationship with Kate and has alleged physical and emotional abuse from his mother.
“My mother had a room built in our unfinished part of the storage basement,” Colin Gosselin told The Sun in 2024. “She had a room with cameras, a little window in the corner and it was locked from the outside.”
“When my mother put me in that room on multiple occasions, she had my hands and feet tied together and locked the door, turned off the lights and had cameras there watching me,” he said.
HuffPost has reached out to Kate Gosselin’s reps for comment.
She addressed Colin’s abuse allegations by responding to commenters on a TikTok video she posted in October.
“I know who I am and my children know who I really am and to me that’s all that matters,” she wrote.
