Jon Stewart reaches two-year deal to remain host of ‘The Daily Show’

Jon Stewart will remain one of the hosts of The daily show for two more years.

The comedian has reached a new deal to remain one of the Comedy Central show’s hosts and executive producers until 2028.

The move means Stewart will be in position for another general election. It’s also a statement from Skydance that should calm critics fearing that David Ellison and company are considering canceling the political comedy series, much like CBS canceled. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert before Skydance took over Paramount last year.

This is also the first major late-night announcement for Skydance since completing the acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, with George Cheeks becoming co-president and chief content officer of Skydance TV.

Stewart is once again under the same corporate umbrella as his former colleague John Oliver, who has signed a one-year contract that will see him through until the end of 2027.

Stewart’s last contract was signed in November 2025 and took him through the end of this year.

Stewart will continue to host The daily show on Monday nights, with the remaining nights of the week featuring a rotating cast including Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic.

He executive produces the long-running series alongside showrunner Jen Flanz and her manager James Dixon.

“Jon Stewart is a generational talent and The daily show continues to be one of television’s most influential franchises and a cornerstone of Comedy Central. We are excited to continue our partnership with Jon and his award-winning news team,” said Cheeks, Co-President and Chief Content Officer of Skydance TV.
