Josh Allen ran for 331 yards and two touchdowns, Tyler Bass kicked a 45-yard field goal with 1:55 left in overtime shortly after Greg Rousseau blocked the Rams’ own attempt, and the Buffalo Bills outlasted Los Angeles for a 37-34 victory Monday night.
Allen passed for 210 yards and rushed for 121 more for the Bills (4-1), who rallied to win a frantic game worthy of teams with the last two NFL MVPs at quarterback. Allen won a game in overtime for the first time in his career – he was previously 0-7 – beating Matthew Stafford, who passed for 383 yards and three touchdowns.
“Guys kept chipping away, defense kept playing, special teams were big tonight,” Allen said after the game. “I didn’t think we pitched very well, especially in the first half, but our team kept fighting. We found a way to win, it’s the first OT (win) I’ve had, so it feels good to be on that side.”
Kyren Williams scored on a 1-yard lead with four seconds left in regulation for Los Angeles. The Bills started the overtime driving deep into Rams territory before Aaron Donald recovered James Cook’s fumble, the second time the running back fumbled on the night.
Stafford drove the Rams to the Buffalo 30, but Harrison Mevis missed his second field goal attempt of the night when Rousseau got a share of one.
Allen then had runs of 19 and 13 yards to set up Bass’s kick, who ran away to celebrate before officials flagged it well.

“They had a really good defense and there were opportunities in the quarterback scrimmage game, just trying to extend some plays,” Allen said. “I have a lot to clean up, but I’ll take being 1-0 on this two-game West Coast trip.”
Puka Nacua had a career-high 17 receptions for 138 yards and a score for the Rams (2-3), who are below .500 after five games for the fourth time in five seasons.
Allen, however, said he has nothing but respect for his opponents, especially their quarterback.
“If he’s not the greatest football thrower of all time, I don’t know who is,” Allen said of Stafford.
