Former White House press secretary Katie Zacharia is ready to speak to the media again.
Zacharia spoke about his five-day stint as President Donald Trump’s chief spokesperson during an appearance on Newsmax on Tuesday, Oct. 27, telling host Rob Finnerty that “the media and all of Washington” made it very difficult for him to do his job.
“Look, the media doesn’t like foreigners, and Washington, D.C., doesn’t like foreigners,” Zacharia said. “…(My job) is to amplify the victories and historic precedent that President Trump has set, especially ahead of the most important midterm elections.”
Zacharia left her post after a turbulent press conference on October 13 and after being exposed for falsely representing herself as a lawyer. Hours after coming out, she said “it was an honor” to work for the president.
“They didn’t let me do my job, which was to focus on him and what he’s doing to win. And it piled on me too much,” she said during her appearance on Newsmax.
Zacharia Blames ‘Hannity’ Appearance for His Abrupt Firing
Zacharia also suggested it was “very likely” she would have stayed in her role if she hadn’t appeared on “Hannity” with Sean Hannity and “Fox & Friends” shortly before announcing her departure.
“I hope so. And I probably think I would be, Rob,” Zacharia told Finnerty, who asked if she would have kept her job without these appearances. “But I can’t know what would have happened otherwise, although it would be very likely.”
Zacharia admitted she was “puzzled” by “Hannity’s” tough grilling, as she thought she and the Fox News host had a great friendly relationship after various appearances and a job offer.
“I was not prepared for the hostility I received,” she said.
USA TODAY reached out to Sean Hannity’s representatives for comment on Oct. 28, but did not receive a response.
Katie Zacharia says she would work for Trump again

Katie Zacharia said she would work for Trump again “in a moment.” Even if she doesn’t necessarily want to return to the podium, she would do so if the president asked her.
“Well, I don’t know if I would say I want my old job back, but if the president asked for it, like he did before, I would take it, Rob,” she said. “But I would accept a position with the president, and I think what I can say is that there are a lot of exciting things to come…”
Zacharia added that she will “always” be an advocate for what Trump does: “He saved this country. Not once. But twice.”
In addition to praising Trump for his public support, Zacharia also endorsed former Fox correspondent Maria Bartiromo as his possible successor.
Details on Zacharia’s next move weren’t immediately clear, but the Pepperdine University alum confirmed she has another opportunity in the offing.
