Klint Kubiak takes tough stance on Ashton Jeanty’s playing status

Earlier Wednesday, ESPN reported that the Las Vegas Raiders were considering giving running back Ashton Jeanty a week off to help him recover from ankle and foot injuries.

Later Wednesday, Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak quickly shut down that idea. “He’s playing,” Kubiak said when asked about the idea. Kubiak also said Jeanty is “starting to feel a lot better.”
Kubiak suggested Jeanty will practice fully this week as the Raiders prepare to host the 4-1 Buffalo Bills on Sunday as they try to end a two-game losing streak. UPDATE: Jeanty trained fully and the ankle injury was removed from the injury report.

Jeanty was a decision made Sunday against New England after missing practice last week with a foot injury. He injured his ankle in training camp. He has not missed any playing time this season.

Meanwhile, as expected, starting defensive tackle Tonka Hemingway will not practice Wednesday because he is in the concussion protocol. His status for Sunday’s match is in question. Kubiak said the team hopes to have wide receiver Jalen Nailor return to practice Thursday with hopes of playing Sunday. He missed the game against New England with a concussion.

Additionally, the team opened the 21-day window to return tight end Carter Runyon from injured reserve. He has been absent since the start of training camp.

Rookie offensive lineman Trey Zuhn returned to practice on a limited basis after missing Week 5 with a knee injury.
