LaKeith Stanfield and Ben Mendelsohn to star in ‘Molepeople’

LaKeith Stanfield and Ben Mendelsohn are expected to star in The molesa feature-length horror film that sees the teaming of two horror powerhouses, Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Paramount Primal.

The feature film will be co-financed and co-produced by Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Paramount, with Paramount handling worldwide distribution. A release date is set for August 27, 2027.

Rob Savage, who Other mom which will be released this weekend, will direct the horror thriller, whose screenplay is by Nathan Elston.

The story concerns a man who descends into the abandoned tunnels beneath New York City, where he discovers a twisted society hidden beneath the streets.

Sources say production is expected to begin in late November or early December in the UK.

Producers include Primal’s Jason Blum, JD Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, as well as James Harris. Executive producers include Ryan Turek, Tracy Rosenblum, Elston and Savage.

The project was previously in development as an independent but was moved to Paramount when Lifshitz and Margules created Primal, their genre label.

Stanfield recently appeared in Boots Riley’s highly rated film I love boosters and starred alongside Mark Wahlberg in Amazon’s Play dirty. He is repped by CAA and Stark Management.

Mendelsohn, represented by WME, will attend the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival Businessa thriller directed by Casey Affleck that also stars Scoot McNairy.
