College football isn’t officially back until Lane Kiffin gets the sport riled up, and it’s clear that the LSU Tigers head coach is doing that during his team’s Week 1 game against Clemson.
Kiffin and LSU are already the talk of college football given his recent attempt at bringing former NFL players back to school. However, the Tigers are proving that they’re quite happy with their current roster.

The longtime college football coach made it a point to take a shot at the SEC and other haters on Saturday night. Kiffin delivered an all-time line at halftime when ESPN’s Holly Rowe asked him about how the first half went.
“Imagine if we had pro players,” Kiffin joked with LSU leading Clemson, 31-3, at halftime.

Kiffin is the king of saying what’s on his mind and in this case he can certainly back it up. LSU’s dominant first half shows that the Tigers are surely a national title contender, especially against Dabo Swinney and Clemson.
The recent talks surrounding LSU have been solely about Kiffin’s willingness to bring NFL players to Baton Rouge. However, the school opted not to have Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris play in Week 1.

Both former NFL players recently left their respective pro teams in order to pursue another year of college. Wright and Harris are enrolled in classes, so it remains to be seen if they will join the football team in 2026.

It appears as though LSU is looking swell on the gridiron though to kick off the Kiffin era. The Tigers boast several tough tests this season, including matchups against Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Texas and Alabama.
