Russia: two children killed by Ukrainian drone strike

A Ukrainian drone attack killed two children in southern Russia overnight from Sunday to Monday, the regional governor said.

“Drone debris fell on a children’s center in Krasnodar. Unfortunately, two children died,” Veniamin Kondratiev said on Telegram messaging. He specified that seven other children and two adults had been injured, and that a fire had broken out in a warehouse, while Ukraine has particularly targeted Russian logistics infrastructure in recent weeks.

New British Prime Minister Andy Burnham visits kyiv on Monday

The new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham goes to kyiv on Monday for his first international trip since taking office at the end of July, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, according to Downing Street.

The Labor leader “is to announce that the government has agreed for the defense company MBDA to share classified information on British components of the long-range Scalp missile”, the statement said.

This cruise missile is the French version of the British Storm Shadow, both based on shared Franco-British technology. This decision “will allow the French and Ukrainians to progress the assembly of this missile in Ukraine”, details Downing Street.

In Kyiv, Andy Burnham will co-chair his first meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, which brings together countries supporting Kyiv.

For his first international trip since taking over as head of the British government, Andy Burnham will travel to kyiv, where the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, is also expected.

Several other leaders are expected to participate remotely in these discussions which take place against the backdrop of a new intensification of the war, exactly four and a half years since its outbreak on February 24, 2022.
