Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 3 trailer revealed

All darkness unleashed in Prime Video’s latest trailer The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power. Taking place seven years after the events of season 2, season 3 begins at the height of the war between the Elves and Sauron (Charlie Vickers). During all this time, you would think that maybe Sauron had calmed down a little on the domination of Middle-earth, especially since he had obtained what he needed to create the One Ring of legend, but no. The Dark Lord is just getting started.

Kicking off the trailer is a pan over the permanently flowing magma region of Mordor. At the top of the tower, Sauron gazes deeply into, presumably, a hearth. “I see the path to victory so certain,” his voiceover says. Then there’s a shattering cut of the valiant Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) galloping into an ensuing brawl with Khamûl the Oriental (Zubin Varla), who promptly throws one of his soldiers at her, knocking her from her horse and sending her to the floor of a forest. As Galadriel is subdued by the servant of the Ring, Sauron’s voiceover continues: “I will take my place as conqueror, as wizard, as king.” As an army of servants of the Ring surround him, he reminds them to remain loyal and steadfast: “We have work to do. »

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the elven stronghold, High King Ereinion Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker) and the other Elven council, which includes Elrond (Robert Aramayo), are wary of wading into the high-octane battle between the human factions. “The enemy outnumbers us twice to one,” Ereinion says as the camera shows a formidable gathering of orcs and other dark creatures who are no doubt out for blood.

Gandalf, still struggling with his identity as a wizard, offers some words of encouragement to someone off-screen, saying, “Together I know we can turn the tide.” Gandalf has been largely outside the main conflict of the entanglement with Sauron, but he has an ongoing confrontation with a dark wizard (Ciarán Hinds) who attempts to influence him into joining forces with him.

The trailer then bounces from different locations across Middle-earth, showing not only how fractured the elves, dwarves, and men truly are, but also how far Sauron and his army are willing to go to quell the rebellion and any chance of hope. “How are we supposed to fight the Dark Lord alone?” a worried dwarf council member says to Prince Durin (Owain Arthur). Without missing a beat, Durin assures him that they will not be alone. However, it’s been a while since we’ve seen Durin and Elrond team up, perhaps there’s a new development on the way.

Additionally, ousted Númenórean navy captain Elendil (Lloyd Owen) looks set to make a grand entrance into battle against Sauron’s forces as the trailer reveals him marching with a rather large army.

Coming back to Galadriel, the trailer reveals that there are tensions bubbling beneath the surface between Galadriel and her elf prince, Celeborn (Jamie Campbell Bower). For reasons unknown, the two were separated and she was half-seduced and manipulated by Sauron, before understanding his deceptions. But the fact that Celeborn doesn’t know anything about it could weigh heavily on his subconscious. “Is there anything you’re afraid to tell me?” » Celeborn said to Galadriel with big puppy eyes. Galadriel looks sincere for a moment, but then Celeborn disappears and Sauron appears, only for it to quickly be revealed that she is having a nightmare.

Yet again, another smash around Middle Earth reveals new flying and burrowing creatures, a shot of the Balrog (voiced by Simon Pegg), and other sword-wielding people fighting for their lives.

“We have no choice but to act,” Elrond says.

Then the camera shows us Sauron sitting on the iconic throne, smiling while magma is all around him and three words in sequence, in big, bold red letters, appear on the screen: “Rule them all.”

Galadriel receives an ominous final word in a voiceover: “We are all on the path to ruin now. »

Sauron looks at the ring he has finally forged, trembling with excitement or something more sinister, as the ring’s writing comes to life over the party.

Season 3 of Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power premieres November 11.

Eddie Marsan as Thrain, Andrew Richardson as Anarion and an original character named Marnûkh played by Adam Young join the cast this season.
