A new report from Counterpoint Research says that Apple’s next-generation MacBook Pro will help drive a 50% increase in OLED laptop display shipments in 2026 alone. Here are the details.
New MacBook Pros and high-end AI PCs expected to fuel demand
In a report released today, Counterpoint Research forecasts that shipments of advanced laptop displays will increase 11% in 2026 compared to 2025, with shipments of OLED laptop displays expected to increase 50% over the period.
The report notes that the 11% growth in advanced laptop display shipments will far outpace the broader laptop display market, which Counterpoint expects to decline 3% year-over-year.
Counterpoint also says it expects OLED to widen its lead over MiniLED in the advanced laptop display market, from 56% of shipments in 2025 to 75% in 2026, while MiniLED is expected to fall from 44% to 25%.

The research firm says part of the growth in OLED laptop display shipments is expected to come from Apple’s adoption of the technology in its next-generation MacBook Pro, which is rumored to be announced on October 27 with a touchscreen and a redesigned, significantly lighter chassis.
Here is the counterpoint:
Shipments of OLED laptop displays are expected to increase 50% in 2026 and an additional 24% in 2027. Apple’s planned adoption of OLED in next-generation MacBook Pro models, along with continued demand for high-end AI PCs, is expected to drive this growth.
According to Counterpoint, another factor contributing to OLED growth is technological and manufacturing advancements, such as tandem OLED architectures, which improve panel brightness, energy efficiency and longevity.
Apple already uses tandem OLED in the iPad Pro, where two OLED layers work together to deliver higher full-screen brightness. The company is widely expected to use a similar dual-stack tandem OLED architecture for the upcoming 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
Looking ahead, Counterpoint expects OLED panel shipments for laptops to grow at a compound annual rate of 26% between 2024 and 2030, while panel revenues are expected to grow 35% annually over the same period.
