PORTLAND, Maine —
A Maine woman is facing several charges after police say she was involved in a confrontation with officers while in the restroom of a Portland McDonald’s.
Erin Baker, 44, of Bangor, was arrested Monday and charged with causing a police standoff, terrorizing, refusal to submit and criminal trespass.
The Portland Police Department said emergency medical personnel responded to the McDonald’s located at 332 St. John St. around 11:22 a.m. after someone reported that a woman in the bathroom, later identified as Baker, was using drugs and requesting emergency medical services.
Police said when emergency medical personnel arrived at the McDonald’s, Baker told them she had a gun. Portland police officers then went to the McDonald’s and began negotiations with Baker, who remained in the restroom for nearly 30 minutes.
Officers eventually deployed pepper ball rounds in the bathroom, after which Baker came out and was taken into custody without further incident.
Police said no firearms were recovered at the scene.
Baker was taken to the Cumberland County Jail after her arrest.
Investigators are asking anyone with information that may be helpful in this case to call 207-874-8575 or text the keyword “PPDME” and their message to 847411.
