Mass Effect 3’s co-op multiplayer mode is relaunching with the Legendary Edition multiplayer mod on N7 Day, although BioWare’s shutdown looms over the celebration

2026 Day N7 can be sad (although with a tinge of hope provided by a Canadian petition to the government) for Mass effect fans follow BioWareBut the ME3Tweaks group (the same people behind the Pinnacle Station and Happy Ending mods, for example) has a long-awaited gift for the community: Legendary Edition Multiplayernow available for download on Nexus Mods.

As you can easily guess, this is the multiplayer mode of Mass Effect 3 ported to Legendary Edition 2021which included the entirety of the original trilogy but ignored the cooperative multiplayer mode that BioWare introduced with the third installment.

In a blog post that Wccftech received ahead of release, modders go deeper into the making of this massive project. Codename ‘Milan‘, Legendary Edition Multiplayer took the ME3Tweaks group three years TO DO. In April 2026, the team decided to separate it from the Legendary Edition entirely; you will still need to own LE, but the multiplayer mod will not otherwise interact with it in any way.

The mod, however, doesn’t just port the original mode for ME3; there are a lot of improvementsincluding:

  • Field of View (FOV)
  • Aim assist/configurable aim assist adjustments
  • Full controller support
  • Private servers (host your own) with one-click invites/in-match invites
  • Photo/spectator mode
  • Support for ultra-wide monitors
  • Clean base (depends on LE, with integration to extract achievements from LE to unlock cosmetic items)
  • Improved textures (some redesigned, most improved)
  • Lighting redone
  • Mesh Improvements
  • Many bug fixes
  • PM Status Icons
  • Heavy weapons
  • New wavelist modes (Unified, Coalition)

The ME3Tweaks group has also made other internal changes to support future expansion of Legendary Edition multiplayer, such as increasing the maximum number of supported maps from 30 has 255. Indeed, they will release a mod creator for community use while continuing to work on additions such as the Redemption Card Pack And Rejection.

The first is a remake of the original card pack created by one of the group members; the new version will feature lighting, pathing and fewer network issues. Modders also hope to add a brand new map with a working cover. As for Rejection, it would also be a reimplementation of the original mod, which added several new enemies to the multiplayer mode. The mod has been prototyped but has not yet received network play testing, and it may take some time to resolve the inevitable issues.

The ME3Tweaks group has also been working to make creating new “kits” (essentially character classes) much easier. Moreover, several minor improvements are already plannedsuch as improving in-game text chat, improving blind shooting, replacing broken challenges interface and UI, and enabling lobby size configuration.

Finally, modders disclosed their use of AIwhich was non-existent during the first two years of development. However, over the past few months, they have leveraged AI tools for bug fixing, UI prototyping, pipeline performance, and feature research, which is pretty normal these days.
